Program for children and youngsters follows the schools’ curriculum, which includes practical lessons of making Idrija Lace, teoretical contents about the international colour code system.
Different Idrija Lace techniques are tought on numerous lacemaking patterns from the schools’ pattern collections, but students are also encouraged to design their own patterns. Being familiar with the colour code system for making lace, enables our students to folow the manuals, allow more authonomy while learning and helps to achieve better results. The contents of pattern designing allow more creativity, searching for new solutions in colours, techniques, … Pattern designing is the crossroads of art and lacemaking knowledge.
The biggest chalange for students is to make the lace upon its own pattern through the process of choosing matterials and colours.
