Welcome to the Idrija Lace School website.

Idrija Lace School – an integrated handicraft center that takes care of the preservation, development and promotion of the Idrija lace-making skills. We will be happy to teach you how to make Idrija bobbin lace, invite you to visit the exhibition of hand-made Idrija lace, and offer you the purchase of quality bobbin lace products from our own production. We are active in many areas related to Idrija lace and its heritage, so we hope that this website will help you find the information you are looking for.

EDUCATION

 

At the Idrija Lace School, over 400 children and young people and over 100 adult lace makers learn to make bobbin lace.

UNESCO HERITAGE

 

Lace making of Idrija lace, together with lace making of Slovenian lace, is inscribed on the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

Idrija Lace School is held to be the oldest continuously operating lace school in the world. It has been in continuous operation since 1876.
